You don’t need to know exactly what you want to do before approaching a designer. They will work with you to develop your brief and reveal the opportunities in your home. But have you included all the information that you do know? Consider including these points:
- Say what stage your project is at. Has any work been done already? Perhaps you haven’t even purchased the property or land yet? Even at this early stage, you may benefit from some professional advice to see the opportunities or constraints. You could even hire an architect to visit the property/plot with you.
- Be clear about your project budget. This helps the designers understand the size of your project to see if they would be suitable for you.
- Add images!
- What would you like your designer to do? Do you just need some rough concept drawings? a planning application? Or do you need help from start to finish - including finding a builder and overseeing their work? Architects are trained to oversee projects from the planning to the construction and would be happy to help.
